Celebrating Excellence: Filipino Nurses Inducted as Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing

It was a night of celebration, pride, and global recognition as accomplished Filipino nurses were inducted as Fellows into the prestigious American Academy of Nursing. Surrounded by distinguished guests including His Excellency Jose Manuel G. Romualdez, Dr. Vergara, Mr. Robles, Ms. Rodriguez, Ms. Beddoe, Dr. Saria, and Dr. Jerado, the event marked a powerful moment of acknowledgment for these leaders whose work spans policy, research, administration, practice, and academia.

Representing the Nurses on Boards Coalition (NOBC), Dr. Nancy Mannion was honored to join this celebration on behalf of our CEO, Dr. Cole Edmonson. The induction of these nurses is not only a testament to their individual achievements but also a reflection of the global impact of nursing leadership.

The American Academy of Nursing’s mission to improve health locally and globally aligns seamlessly with NOBC’s vision: to advance the health of communities through the service of nurses on boards. Nurses bring a unique and essential perspective to governance, helping boards at every level—local, state, national, and international—achieve more effective and equitable healthcare outcomes.

We are especially grateful to the Philippine Nurses Association of America, a valued member of our coalition, for its commitment to inclusive leadership and collaboration. Together, we uphold the legacy of nursing as the most trusted profession, grounded in integrity, innovation, and servant leadership.

As we celebrate these new Fellows, we also reaffirm our shared commitment to elevating the voice of nurses in decision-making spaces. Their leadership is shaping the future of healthcare—and the world is better for it.
