Professional growth and community service.

What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as a leader?

Seeking certification, leadership roles in my working community, and seeking opportunities to serve in a national capacity.

What impact have you had serving on a board? Example?

Increased budget outcome through philanthropic activities and advocacy for the older adult population.

What advice would you give someone going into a board leadership position for the first time?

Seek a mentor and information on how to be an effective leader.

What are a few resources you would recommend to someone looking to gain insight into becoming a better leader and eventually obtaining a board position?

Why do you feel it is important for nurses to serve on boards?

Having a seat that the table gives us the opportunity to influence change and direction.

What do you think is the most significant barrier to nurses serving on boards?

We are not good at promoting ourselves.
